Google Launches Gemini 4 Argon and Connected Apps Platform
· ConfirmedShare on
In Short: In addition to Gemini 4 Argon, Google has also introduced the Connected Apps Platform, a unified way for app developers to bring their capabilities directly into Gemini and Search.

Google has launched Gemini 4 Argon, a new version of its AI model, available globally for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. The model supports a unified input-output context window of up to 1 million tokens, aimed at handling longer-running scientific, coding, and agentic tasks.
According to Google, Gemini 4 Argon is priced at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input tokens discounted by 95%. The model is now available through the paid Gemini API in AI Studio and the Gemini platform, as well as through Google Antigravity for Google AI Ultra subscribers.
In addition to Gemini 4 Argon, Google has also introduced the Connected Apps Platform, a unified way for app developers to bring their capabilities directly into Gemini and Search. Over 50 popular apps are already working across Search and Gemini, covering areas ranging from productivity and event ticketing to health and fitness.
The Connected Apps Platform allows developers to build once and reach high-intent users across both Search and the Gemini app. Developers can choose whether their app will go live in Search, the Gemini app, or both, and they register, test, and submit their Connected Apps using the new Google Connected Console.
Google is expanding the availability of Connected Apps on multiple fronts, starting with the platform's preview. Developers need to have a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android MCP using the AppFunctions APIs to participate.
Google's Connected Apps Platform changes how users interact with their smartphones, allowing them to handle real-world tasks inside an AI chat without switching tabs. For instance, users can plan a trip directly through Gemini without tapping multiple icons on their home screen.
Google employees are internally testing additional Gemini 4 checkpoints, and the model has found critical bugs in the proprietary drone physics simulator used in Project Wing that had been in the codebase since 2018.
Engineers also turned Gemini 4 loose on a proprietary drone physics simulator, and the AI found critical bugs that had been in the codebase since 2018.
With zero external libraries and 100% pure Python, Argon wrote its own 3D ray-tracing engine with a custom video tool and audio mixer to build and document a sunlit library from scratch, producing, narrating, and assembling this video with Gemini 3.8 TTS voiceover and music by Lyria 3.5.
What this adds
Google's Connected Apps Platform is designed to consolidate app functionalities within Gemini and Search, making it easier for users to access a variety of services directly through the AI platform.
The Connected Apps Platform is now integrated across Search, Gemini, Maps, Google Maps Platform, and Cloud, enhancing the user experience by providing seamless access to app functionalities.
Google's Connected Apps Platform is part of a broader strategy to integrate third-party apps into its AI ecosystem, allowing developers to reach high-intent users across multiple platforms.
Background
In addition to the launch of Gemini 4 Argon, Google has also introduced the Connected Apps Platform, a unified way for app developers to bring their capabilities directly into Gemini and Search.
Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon, a new AI model designed to excel in cybersecurity and complex coding tasks.
What's confirmed
- According to Google, Argon is now available globally through the paid Gemini API in AI Studio and the Gemini platform, as well as through Google Antigravity for Google AI Ultra subscribers.
- Developers can “choose whether [their app] will go live in Search, the Gemini app, or both.” As part of the recent redesign, the Gemini app gained a new Customize page.
- They then register, test, and submit their Connected Apps using the new Google Connected Console.
What's still developing
- Skipping all that back-and-forth between different phone apps makes asking Gemini for help feel a lot more practical.
- Some of the features available from these services are accessible via Gemini, with the same things functionalities soon coming to Google Search.
- Dated October 28, 2026, carrying a three-minute read time and filed under Developer tools, Search and Gemini App, it runs to five paragraphs under the headline "Build and manage Connected Apps in one place." Two announcements share the space: a developer platform, and a new set of consumer integrations.
- Google frames the platform as a consolidation, describing it in the summary line as "a single place to build and manage apps for Search and the Gemini app." The operative word is preview.
- You can now access these enhanced forecasts directly through Google Search, Maps, and Gemini, or integrate the data into your own projects via Google Cloud.
- Google has launched Gemini 4 Argon for developers, enterprises and consumers, setting introductory API pricing for the frontier model as it moves beyond the early-access and demonstration phase.
