Google Expands Gemini Capabilities and Announces New Models

In Short: Google introduced Gemini 4 Argon, the flagship model of its Gemini 4 generation, which is now available to a vetted group of cyber defenders, according to Technology.

Google today announced the Connected Apps Platform, a unified way for app developers to integrate their capabilities directly into Gemini and Search, according to 9To5Google.

Developers can choose whether their app will go live in Search, the Gemini app, or both. The Gemini app has also gained a new Customize page as part of a recent redesign.

In addition to the Gemini app, Google will soon make existing Connected Apps available in Search, expanding the reach of these applications.

Gemini 4 Argon has a one-million-token output context window, a significant expansion over the 64,000-token ceiling of prior Gemini models, and is available to Google AI Pro subscribers at $20 per month, AI Ultra subscribers at $99 per month, and enterprise developers through the Gemini API.

Gemini 4 Argon is designed to handle heavyweight reasoning tasks in the cloud, such as video analysis, spatial mapping, and physics simulation code generation, while a separate on-device model handles time-sensitive motor control locally on the robot.

Google's Connected Apps Platform is designed to enable developers to build once and reach high-intent users across both Gemini and Search, according to 9To5Google.

The new Echo speaker from Amazon includes visual intelligence and a larger 16-inch display, while the HomePod mini is expected to feature a newer processor, improved audio, and upgraded Ultra Wideband capabilities, according to MacRumors and Theapplepost.

Google DeepMind has introduced Genie 4, the newest generation of its foundational world model, which can produce real-time, interactive 3D environments from text and image prompts, according to Oodaloop.

Industry analysts highlight that advancements in world models like Genie 4 bridge the gap between passive video generation and active simulation, unlocking new applications for interactive design and spatial computing.
