Google today unveiled the Connected Apps Platform, a new initiative aimed at integrating more app developers' capabilities directly into its Gemini and Search services. This platform is designed to enable developers to build once and reach high-intent users across both Gemini and Search, according to 9To5Google.

The Gemini app has undergone a recent redesign, featuring a new Customize page that allows users to tailor their experience. Developers can choose whether their app will be available in Search, the Gemini app, or both, providing flexibility in how their applications are accessed.

In addition to the Gemini app, Google plans to make existing Connected Apps available in Search, expanding the reach of these applications to a broader audience. This move is part of Google's strategy to unify its services and provide a seamless experience for users.

Google also introduced Gemini 4 Argon, the flagship model of its Gemini 4 generation, which is now available to a vetted group of cyber defenders. According to Technology, Argon is designed to handle complex workloads and is comparable to frontier models like OpenAI’s Astra and Anthropic’s Opus on key coding and cyber benchmarks.

Argon features a one-million-token output context window, a significant improvement over the 64,000-token ceiling of previous Gemini models. It is available to Google AI Pro subscribers at $20 per month, AI Ultra subscribers at $99 per month, and enterprise developers through the Gemini API.

Google DeepMind has also unveiled Genie 4, a new generation of its foundational world model designed to produce real-time, interactive 3D environments from text and image prompts. This advancement bridges the gap between passive video generation and active simulation, opening up new applications for interactive design and spatial computing.

The Connected Apps Platform requires developers to have a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android MCP using the AppFunctions APIs, ensuring a unified and secure integration process.

Gemini 4 Argon is part of a split architecture for robotics, where the model handles heavyweight reasoning tasks in the cloud, while a separate on-device model (Gemini Robotics ER 2) manages time-sensitive motor control locally on the robot.

Google's announcements reflect the intensifying competition among major technology companies in the AI space, as highlighted by Bravenewcoin. The company is positioning itself to lead in next-generation AI systems, alongside other global players like Chinese AI start-up Moonshot.

Gemini 4 Argon was announced on September 30, 2026, and made broadly available on October 13, 2026, marking a significant milestone in Google's AI ecosystem.

The new Echo speaker from Amazon includes visual intelligence and a larger 16-inch display, while the HomePod mini is expected to feature a newer processor, improved audio, and upgraded Ultra Wideband capabilities, according to MacRumors and Theapplepost.

Both the new Echo speaker and the HomePod mini retain their original designs but add new features such as an S10 chip, faster wireless connectivity, and support for Siri AI in a future software update.

What this adds

Google's Connected Apps Platform and the introduction of Gemini 4 Argon represent significant advancements in the company's AI ecosystem, expanding both the capabilities and reach of its services.

The Connected Apps Platform and Gemini 4 Argon are part of Google's broader strategy to integrate AI into various aspects of user experience, from search and apps to robotics and interactive environments.

Background

Gemini is already available globally on Android Auto and vehicles with Google built-in, but Personal Intelligence takes things further by connecting information from Google services that drivers already use.

In addition to Google Photos, Gemini Spark is also being integrated into Google Maps, offering a conversational driving experience in CarPlay.
