· Confirmed

Puerto Rico’s seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano will retire after defending her unified featherweight world titles against Australia’s Skye Falzon in Puerto Rico on January 9, 2027, in a fight dubbed “The Last Walk” by her promoter, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).
Serrano, 38, will compete in the first women’s unified world championship bout over 12 three-minute rounds, a format she fought for to ensure equality between male and female fighters.
In her statement, Serrano reflected on her journey from early days when women’s boxing was fighting for recognition to headlining Madison Square Garden, reaching millions of fans around the world.
Serrano’s career has been marked by her historic rivalry with Ireland’s Katie Taylor, who won all three of their encounters. Serrano’s last fight will also draw parallels with Taylor, who retired in September after an emotional swansong against Flora Pili at Dublin’s Croke Park.
Serrano, who boasts a fight history of 50 wins, four defeats, and one draw, will be seeking to break the all-time women's knockout record in her farewell bout. She currently shares the record with American boxing pioneer Christy Martin.
Falzon, 12-2 with seven knockouts, said, “After 14 years as a professional boxer, I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to step into the ring with the best female boxer in the world.”
Serrano’s final fight will take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, with the event set to stream live on DAZN.
Serrano’s most recent championship defense was a majority decision victory over Argentina's Lucrecia Manzur, bringing her professional win tally to 50.
Serrano’s career will perhaps be best remembered for her historic rivalry with Katie Taylor and her fight for equality in women’s boxing.
Serrano said in her statement, “Puerto Rico has always been home. My heart, my pride, and the island I’ve carried with me every time I stepped into that ring.”
What this adds
The fight is being billed as Serrano’s final statement for equity between male and female fighters.
Serrano’s farewell will be the first time Falzon has competed over 12 three-minute rounds.

What's confirmed
- Puerto Rico’s seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano will retire after defending her unified featherweight world titles against Australia’s Skye Falzon on home soil, in a fight her promoter dubbed “The Last Walk”.
- “Boxing has been my life and I never could have imagined the journey it would take me and my family on,” Serrano said in a statement.
- On Saturday, January 9, I’m going to give the fans one final night to remember.
What's still developing
- “‘The Last Walk’ is a celebration of an athlete who changed the sport forever … We’re proud to give Amanda the farewell she deserves,” said Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul, founders of Most Valuable Promotions.
- In 2023, she competed in the first women’s unified world championship bout over 12 three-minute rounds, later voluntarily vacating her WBC title rather than abandoning her commitment to equal rules.
- If you do it, you'll most likely be permanently banned.
- She has been unbeaten since 2022 but has yet to face anyone approaching Serrano’s class.
- Taylor, of course, is the one fighter Serrano could not defeat, losing all three encounters with the Irish star, though at least two of the decisions could, on another day, have gone her way.
- In her own written announcement on X, Serrano described the opportunity to finish in Puerto Rico as more meaningful than another stop on an international career.
