Google Integrates Gemini Spark With Google Photos
· Confirmed
In Short: Google has integrated its Gemini Spark personal agent into Google Photos, allowing users to manage their photo libraries with AI assistance.

Google has integrated its Gemini Spark personal agent into Google Photos, allowing users to manage their photo libraries with AI assistance. The integration was announced at I/O 2026 in May and is now rolling out to eligible users with AI Pro or AI Ultra subscriptions.
The update combines the Spark personal agent with the main Gemini chat experience, making it easier to access and use. The redesign deemphasizes the 'Spark' branding, renaming 'Gemini Spark Settings' to 'Task settings' and adding buttons for 'Chat' and 'Task' above the prompt box.
With this update, users can start new tasks anytime and keep track of them in their chats. The feed is organized by Active, Paused, Completed, and Suggested tasks, making it easier to manage ongoing projects.
Google Photos lead Shimrit Ben-Yair shared the new capabilities on X, noting that the new features would roll out over the next few weeks to eligible Gemini AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. Users can now ask Gemini Spark to execute tasks in Google Photos, such as editing images, curating albums, and automatically creating shared albums with favorite shots.
Gemini Spark can also turn concert flyer photos into calendar appointments, run workflows, and more. This integration builds on Gemini's existing capabilities, such as its Live Avatar feature, which adds real-time visual presence to its conversational AI.
For users who have connected financial accounts to Google Wallet through Plaid, Gemini can use transaction information to answer questions about spending, summarize expenses, and even suggest budgets. However, the integration is currently limited to users aged 18 or older in the US and requires a personal Google account with Gemini Apps Activity turned on.
Gemini Spark has been getting all the love from Google over the past couple of months, with the company trying to make it easier to access on mobile and adding new features and capabilities. This latest integration could make it even more useful, allowing users to extract text from images, create summaries of events, and even create visual stories.
In addition to these new features, users can now ask Gemini Spark to go through their Photos library every weekend, find the best images of their kids or pets, add them to a shared album, and send them to family or friends. This could be particularly useful for users with large photo libraries, as one user noted, 'I’ve always dreamed of having a power agent to help me get the most out of my 143,206 photos and videos.'
