Rostov Oblast Governor Yury Slyusar claimed that Russian air defenses intercepted Ukrainian drones over Taganrog and the Kagalnitsky and Neklinovsky districts. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that air defenses destroyed 40 Ukrainian drones over several regions, including Rostov Oblast, Krasnodar Krai, and occupied Crimea.

The Danish Defence Intelligence Service noted that Russia has become more willing to take risks as the security situation in Europe deteriorates. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia launched nearly 500 strike drones at Ukraine during the day.

The attacks on oil refineries in Krasnodar Krai and Tatarstan, as well as a facility used to launch Russian attack drones, were reported by Ukraine's General Staff. The strikes targeted the Slavyansky oil refinery in Sloviansk-on-Kuban and the TANECO refinery in Nizhnekamsk.

The Slavyansky oil refinery, operated by Sloviansk ECO LLC, is one of the largest independent refineries in southern Russia, with an annual crude oil processing capacity of about 5.2 million metric tons. The Tatarstan refinery, operated by Tatneft, processes more than 16 million metric tons of oil annually.

These strikes are part of Ukraine's ongoing efforts to disrupt Russia's fuel supplies and the production and launch of weapons used against Ukraine. The region has become a key logistical and military hub for Russian operations in Ukraine, housing supply routes, military bases, and fuel infrastructure.

President Zelensky emphasized the need for continued sanctions against Russia, stating that discussions about easing sanctions were not appropriate given the ongoing drone attacks. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the Russian side did not interpret Zelensky's remarks as ruling out a visit to Moscow.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the attacks as Putin's terror, warning that Russian barbarians were at the gates of the EU and NATO.
