Singapore Airlines Unveils New Business Class Suites With Doors and Companion Beds
· Confirmed
In Short: Singapore Airlines has unveiled new business class suites with sliding privacy doors and companion beds as part of a S$2 billion investment in its long-haul cabins.

Singapore Airlines has unveiled new business class suites with sliding privacy doors and companion beds as part of a S$2 billion investment in its long-haul cabins. The new suites, designed by Designworks, a BMW Group company, and built by RECARO Aircraft Seating, will be rolled out progressively from the second half of 2027 on the airline's 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft, as well as its new Boeing 777-9 fleet.
The new business class seats will feature sliding privacy doors, leather upholstery, and adjustable support for passengers’ backs and legs. The fully flat bed measures 79 inches long and up to 24 inches wide, with extra footroom to improve overnight rest.
The joined center suites can accommodate four people dining together, and the electric divider between selected center seats can be lowered to make companion beds. Passengers traveling together in the center suites can lower the divider between their seats to create a shared space, with seating that converts into a two-person sofa or an 80-inch-long, 60-inch-wide double bed.
Other features include companion dining, electronically adjustable seating, wireless charging, a 32-inch 4K entertainment screen, and controls that can remember a passenger’s preferred seat and lighting settings. The airline also announced over 100 new or refreshed dishes and expanded beverage choices across all cabin classes.
The Boeing 777-9 will have six first class seats, while the A350-900ULR will have four. The new first class suites will feature elegantly curved sliding doors, offering passengers greater privacy and an enhanced sense of spaciousness. The airline has also announced a progressive Starlink rollout on its A350 long-haul and ULR aircraft from early 2027.
In addition to the new cabin products, the airline has invested more than S$130 million (US$101.5 million) to upgrade and expand its SilverKris lounges. The new business class seats will be rolled out progressively from the second half of 2027, starting with the airline's 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft.
The new seats will include a personal wardrobe, a vanity drawer, and storage for belongings. Passengers will have access to a 32-inch 4K touchscreen with spatial audio and Bang & Olufsen wireless headphones. They can connect their own compatible Bluetooth headphones to the airline’s KrisWorld entertainment system.
The new cabin products will enter service progressively from the second half of 2027 on retrofitted Airbus A350-900 aircraft and the airline’s incoming Boeing 777-9 fleet. The upgrades cover all four travel classes, with new Business Class seats offering companion beds, redesigned Premium Economy and Economy Class seating, and upgraded in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems.
Collins Aerospace is manufacturing the first class, premium economy and economy seats.

What's still developing
- First class is planned for the seven ultra-long-range A350-900ULRs, which previously lacked that cabin.
- Each aircraft uses a 1-2-1 arrangement with direct aisle access.
- The centre pair can be converted into a two-seat sofa or a double bed measuring 80 inches long and 60 inches wide, which the airline describes as the largest double bed in commercial aviation.
- On some of the centre pairs, lowering the divider turns the two berths into companion beds.
- Those who enjoy dining with a companion will appreciate the large table, which accommodates face-to-face dining for two.
