Action star Jason Statham and director Guy Ritchie are set to reunite for a new Netflix film titled 'Dogfight', marking their seventh collaboration since their first film together, 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', in 1998. Production on 'Dogfight' is scheduled to begin in early 2027 in the United Kingdom.

The film is being produced by Punch Palace Productions and Lumina Studios, alongside Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson for Toff Guy Films and John Friedberg for Black Bear. Ritchie directs, writes, and produces the film, which Netflix has billed as a 'stylish revenge actioner set in the London criminal underworld'.

While plot details remain under wraps, the combination of Statham, Ritchie, and London's criminal underworld should give audiences a fairly good idea of the sort of movie they're getting. Ritchie's increasingly busy relationship with Netflix includes several recent projects, such as 'The Gentlemen'.

The announcement also continues Ritchie's busy relationship with Netflix, which has become home to several of his recent projects, including 'The Gentlemen'. 'Dogfight' is the latest in a long-running and hugely successful relationship between the director and his action star, which began with Ritchie giving Statham his first film role in 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' in 1998.

Statham and Ritchie's latest feature together, 'Viva La Madness', is based on J.J. Connolly's script and is scheduled for a 2028 release. The film is described as a standalone film and not a continuation of previous work.

The ensemble cast includes Vinnie Jones, who has previously worked with both Statham and Ritchie in 'Snatch'. The film promises plenty of violence, questionable characters, and one idiot who makes the dumb decision to upset Jason Statham.

Statham was introduced to Ritchie when he was modeling for French Connection and cast after hearing he had worked as a market stall salesman. Their partnership did not return until 'Wrath of Man' in 2021, which Netflix counts as their fourth collaboration.

Wrath of Man pulled in 8.3 million views during its two weeks in the global top 10 after arriving on Netflix in December 2025.

The announcement of 'Dogfight' marks the continuation of a successful partnership between Statham and Ritchie, with their latest collaboration set to bring their action prowess to Netflix for a revenge-focused crime thriller vehicle.

What this adds

The partnership between Statham and Ritchie has seen several ups and downs, with 'Revolver' (2005) being a critical and commercial failure.
