In Short: Israeli security forces arrested 18 settlers suspected of attacking troops during the evacuation of an unauthorized outpost in the West Bank.

Israeli security forces on Monday arrested 18 settlers suspected of attacking troops and obstructing the evacuation and demolition of an unauthorized outpost in the occupied West Bank, the military said.
Monitors and rights organizations have reported that more than 200 unauthorized settler outposts have been established in the West Bank since 2023, many of them in coordination with settlement municipal authorities, the military, and other state agencies.
Some outpost residents have openly stated their goal was to drive Palestinians from their land in neighboring villages, including in locations beyond Area C.
Dozens of Border Police officers and Civil Administration soldiers arrived at Givat Ora Yisrael, near the Palestinian town of Salfit, to demolish structures at the outpost, which authorities had previously cleared out.
During the confrontation, dozens of settlers physically and verbally attacked security personnel, the military said.
Outposts created without official coordination have often faced demolition overseen by the Israeli Civil Administration, which operates in the West Bank under the Ministry of Defense, controlled by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a leading advocate of settlement expansion.
Lazar Berman, The Times of Israel's diplomatic reporter, noted that Saturday’s attack by extremist Jewish Israeli settlers in the West Bank went beyond even the frequent incidents of vigilante violence that have occurred since the current government headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came to power.
Heidi Levine, a Washington Post journalist, sustained severe injuries when she was beaten by masked Israeli settlers while covering the olive harvest in the Palestinian village of Abu Falah.
Masked Israeli settlers attacked a convoy of European diplomats in the West Bank on Saturday, October 17, 2026, during the Palestinian olive harvest season.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed concern over recent attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee condemned an attack by illegal Israeli settlers on a female Washington Post photographer as an 'act of terror,' demanding that Israeli authorities prosecute and imprison those responsible.

- Lander has made a name for himself during his campaign as a vocal Jewish voice critical of Israel, and he spent a chunk of the home stretch of his campaign traveling to the West Bank to hear Palestinians’ experiences with violence from Israeli settlers.
- Netanyahu questioned the identity of the perpetrators, suggesting Palestinians or "far-left" activists might have been responsible, despite reports identifying the attackers as Israeli settlers.
