Clayface Leads Box Office With $24M Debut, You Can See Everything Surges to $19.5M
Confirmed
In Short: DC Studios' Clayface topped the box office with a $24 million debut, while A24's You Can See Everything saw a significant surge to $19.5 million in its second weekend.
DC Studios' R-rated horror film 'Clayface' led the box office with a $24 million debut, according to studio estimates Sunday, marking a notable improvement over the studio's previous release, 'The Missing Link,' which opened with $5.9 million in 2019.
The film, directed by Travis Knight, received excellent reviews and strong audience scores, earning an 'A' CinemaScore.
Meanwhile, A24's documentary 'You Can See Everything,' directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, saw a significant surge in its second weekend, pulling in $19.5 million from 2,655 theaters.
Paul Dergarabedian, head of marketplace trends for Rentrak, noted, 'Clayface is a great example of studios taking chances, with DC venturing into R-rated horror and body horror, something that’s certainly not your typical comic book movie.'
The budget for 'Clayface' is a modest $44 million, and it does not boast any big names in the cast, with newcomer Tom Rhys Harries leading the film.
'You Can See Everything' continues to reap success from its marketing that plays up the mystery surrounding the project, holding a 98 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 96 percent score from audiences.
The documentary has earned a huge $45.1 million domestically to date, with ticket sales up 28 percent in its second week.
'Wicker,' a comic fable starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, launched with an excellent $5.8 million in 1,471 theaters.
'Wildwood,' a stop-motion animation film, came in at number three with $11.2 million for its first weekend.
The global opening for 'Clayface' is not far from what Universal’s 'Other Mommy' did a couple of weeks ago, with a $45.6M start in 50 territories.
In international markets, 'Clayface' exceeded or met 'Other Mommy's' first weekend in the UK, Australia, France, and Brazil.
'Clayface' is well-positioned to ultimately hit a profit through ancillary markets, according to FranchiseRe.

Clayface, the Warner Bros. film starring Tom Rhys Harries as the Batman villain, soared to the top of the box office with an estimated $24 million in its first weekend, according to Deadline.
You Can See Everything is a 2026 American meta-documentary film directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. It follows Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the defunct health technology company Theranos, and her partner Billy Evans, who invited a film crew to document them beginning in the weeks before Holmes began serving a United States federal prison sentence for defrauding investors.
Clayface is an alias used by several characters appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Most incarnations of the character possess clay-like bodies and shapeshifting abilities, and all of them are adversaries of the superhero Batman.
