Nuremberg Airport Suspends Flights Amid Aviation Emergency
Confirmed
In Short: Flight operations have returned to normal at Germany's Nuremberg airport and all passengers are safe, the airport operator said after operations had been suspended because of an erroneous aviation emergency.

Flight operations at Nuremberg Airport in Germany were suspended Tuesday following an unspecified airborne emergency, with authorities currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
German police confirmed that they had received a report of an unspecified airborne emergency, adding that the aircraft involved had subsequently landed safely at Nuremberg.
The disruption follows reports of a possible drone sighting overnight, which had already affected flight operations at the airport.
The Albrecht Dürer Airport, in a statement on its website, said, “Flight operations have been suspended for the time being. More information will follow.”
According to ABC News & Headlines – Australian Broadcasting Corporation (Australia), the code '7500', which indicates a hijacking, was transmitted from the cockpit of an aircraft, and the pilot could no longer be reached by radio, police said in a WhatsApp channel.
However, LBC (United Kingdom) reported that Coredon Airlines flight from Corfu had transmitted an emergency code at 0900 GMT while in Croatian airspace due to a malfunction in its radio communication system, the airline said.
Coredon Airlines stated that no emergency situation occurred and that at no point were passengers, flight crew, or the aircraft in any danger.
German police spokesperson Michael Petzold said, “The measures carried out, which included among other things a police helicopter, did not lead to the verification of the reported object. The Nuremberg border police inspectorate is now conducting further investigations to clarify the events.”
In response to the incident, German air traffic control, airport management, and border police launched a joint operation for a security sweep at the Nuremberg airport premises, and flight operations were halted as a precautionary measure.
The suspension could affect passengers traveling through Nuremberg, with potential implications for flight schedules and onward connections.
Nuremberg Airport confirmed on Tuesday, local time, that flight operations have been suspended.
