Calligrapher Gyousyou Suzuki, who also worked on the anime 'Barakamon,' is handling the calligraphy for the anime's title 'Kuroudo Kitan,' while Aniplex is collaborating on the project with Sony Music as the 'music and soundtrack partner.'

The game, 'Ghost of Tsushima,' is a fictionalization of the historical 1274 Mongol invasion of Tsushima, following samurai Jin Sakai as he fights a guerilla war against the invading Mongols.

The sequel, 'Ghost of Yōtei,' launched in October 2025, set in 1603 in Hokkaido.

At a press conference held by Crunchyroll earlier this year, it was announced that Sucker Punch’s 'Ghost of Tsushima' video game would receive a new anime adaptation titled 'Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.'

The newly announced main cast members include Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu, with no official explanation given for the delay.

The delay could give the project more time to refine and complete before streaming on Crunchyroll in 2028.

The anime is currently in production at Aniplex and Crunchyroll’s HAYATE venture in collaboration with PlayStation Productions.

Additional staff members include composer Keiji Inai, sound director Yoshikazu Iwanami, sound editor Yasumasa Koyama, and title calligraphy artist Gyousyou Suzuki.

The updated premiere window was confirmed at Crunchyroll’s New York Comic Con 2026 showcase on October 8, where attendees were shown an exclusive work-in-progress preview of the series.

The anime is being directed by Takanobu Mizuno at studio Kamikaze Douga, with Gen Urobuchi writing the story composition and co-writing the script with Renji Oki.

The delay to 2028 was announced at New York Comic Con 2026, providing the first glimpse of casting.

The creative roster includes new staff members that ensure the series maintains the game's authentic aesthetic.
