Austria's trade balance surpassed forecasts in July, recording a positive €268 million, according to recent data. This marks a significant improvement from the expected zero balance, indicating a robust economic performance.

In the currency markets, the AUD/USD pair consolidated in the Asian session on Thursday, trading just above 0.6950 as traders assessed developments in the Middle East crisis. Meanwhile, the USD/JPY pair rose back above 158.00 in the early European morning on Tuesday but returned to the red below 158.00 in the Asian session on Thursday amid speculation that authorities will step in to prop up the Japanese Yen.

Gold prices trimmed their intraday gains and traded near $4,125 during the early European session on Thursday, up around 0.35% for the day. Despite the positive economic indicators, gold struggled to capitalize on the uptick, trading near its lowest level since August 4, around the $4,100 neighborhood.

In Brazil, the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services revised its forecast for the country's trade surplus, expecting it to reach $84.4 billion from the $90 billion estimated in July. This downward revision came after Brazil posted a $7.7 billion trade surplus in September, up 146.4% from a year earlier and above the $7.2 billion expected by economists polled by Reuters.

Even with the downward revision, this year's trade surplus would still be 24% higher than in 2025 if realized. The revised outlook reflects weaker-than-expected export growth, despite September's trade balance topping market expectations.

Altcoins mirrored Bitcoin’s ranging action, with Ethereum trading sideways above $2,700 and Ripple hovering around the pivotal $1.50 level. The US Dollar eased from near an 18-month high on profit taking, ignoring Wednesday's hawkish FOMC Minutes and the risk of a further escalation of tensions in the Middle East, adding to the pair's pullback.
