Norway's August manufacturing output dropped to -0.4%, according to recent data, reflecting a decrease in gas production and a slight increase in oil output compared to July 2022.

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, gas production in August 2022 was lower than the figures from July 2022, despite a slight increase from the NPD's predictions.

Oil production, however, showed a mixed picture. While it was higher than July's figures, it fell short of the NPD’s forecasts, with an average daily production of 1,998,000 barrels of oil, NGL, and condensate.

The NPD reported that oil production in August was 3.1% lower than the forecast and 4.7% lower than the forecast for the year.

Derivatives data indicates that traders are showing cautious signals, possibly due to the recent rejection of Bitcoin around $87,200 and deteriorating risk sentiment.

The Forex market is also reflecting these cautious signals, with independent reviews suggesting a need for traders to choose their brokers carefully.

What this adds

The drop in manufacturing output and the mixed signals in oil production add to the cautious sentiment in the market, but the exact impact on the broader economy remains to be seen.
