Building Collapse in Delhi Kills Pregnant Woman, Two Children
Confirmed
In Short: A four-storey building in Seemapuri, Delhi, collapsed on Wednesday, killing three people including a pregnant woman and two children.

A four-storey building in Seemapuri, Delhi, collapsed on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of three people, including a pregnant woman and two children, and injuring eight others.
The collapse occurred around 3:10 pm, with the Delhi Fire Services receiving a call around 3:30 pm.
According to officials, the building was approximately 225 square feet in size and had developed cracks following tremors caused by an earthquake in Uttarakhand on Tuesday evening.
The deceased included Gulafsa, a 21-year-old woman who was four months pregnant, and two children, one of whom was 12 years old and the other around one-and-a-half years old.
Rescue operations were immediately launched, with teams from the Delhi Police, Delhi Disaster Management Authority, National Disaster Response Force, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) participating.
Gulafsa was taking a shower on the second floor when the building collapsed, while her four-year-old daughter Zoya was walking with her when the incident occurred.
Rescue workers managed to reach Gulafsa after calculating the height of the second floor and cutting through debris, but she was unresponsive at the time.
Reshma, Gulafsa's sister, rushed to the site and hospitals in search of her loved ones.
The incident has raised concerns over the structural safety of residential buildings in densely populated urban areas.
The building was reportedly 20 to 25 years old and stood on a plot owned by the DUSIB.
While the official cause of the collapse is not yet known, authorities suspect that cracks in the structure due to the earthquake may have contributed to the disaster.
