DNA Test Clears Accused in Madhya Pradesh Minor Assault Case
Confirmed
In Short: The High Court in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, dismissed the second bail application of the accused and ordered the police to identify the person who allegedly sexually assaulted the minor and establish the identity of the biological father of the foetus.
Justice Ajay Kumar Nirankari noted that the girl was a minor and had been subjected to sexual harassment, directing the Chhatarpur superintendent of police to form a special investigation team (SIT) to conduct a detailed inquiry.
The case came to light after the minor was found to be approximately two months pregnant during a medical examination as part of the investigation. She subsequently underwent a termination of pregnancy.
The forensic report, dated August 29, 2026, confirmed that the accused was not the biological father of the foetus, highlighting a contradiction between the forensic evidence and the minor’s statements during trial.
Meanwhile, a wanted drug smuggler from Barmer, Vishna Ram, was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) from Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh. He had been evading arrest for nearly two years and had changed his identity to run a furniture business in Madhya Pradesh.
Police officials said that Vishna Ram had been involved in criminal activities for around 12 years and had over 18 cases registered against him in different police stations of Rajasthan, including those under the NDPS Act, attempt to murder, assault, Arms Act, theft, and fraud.
The breakthrough in Vishna Ram’s arrest came after information was received that he was running a furniture business in Madhya Pradesh and had called artisans from Jodhpur to work. Police said he had established links with smugglers in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana, and supplied drugs in the Marwar region.
