A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck central Japan early Sunday, injuring at least 22 people and causing disruptions, according to local media and authorities.

The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that the earthquake shattered store windows and prompted people to flee buildings.

Train services on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, connecting Tokyo and Osaka, were delayed between Shizuoka and Gifu-Hashima stations after safety checks, rail operator JR Central said.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., which operates the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station in Shizuoka Prefecture, reported no abnormalities at the facility following the earthquake.
