In Short: The Enough Phone, a compact smartphone with a 5.3-inch screen, begins taking preorders today on Kickstarter.

The Enough Phone, a compact smartphone designed for those who prefer smaller screens, has launched its preorders on Kickstarter today.

The Enough Phone starts at $399 for early backers, aiming to appeal to users who are tired of large-screen smartphones.

The company behind the Enough Phone is cofounded by the creators of Sleke, a software startup that sells refurbished phones loaded with OdysseyOS, a minimalist version of Android.

The Kickstarter campaign page notes that the phone in their photos is a non-working prototype, and the company is currently in the production tooling phase.

According to the campaign, the Enough Phone will be an unlocked 5G phone with plans to ship to customers in May 2027.

The Enough Phone measures 132.8 x 63.8 x 12mm and will have a battery between 3,500 and 4,000 mAh, which will be user-replaceable.

The physical size of the Enough Phone is roughly the same as the iPhone 13 Mini, despite its thicker build.

The Enough Phone is aiming for “broad global support” and will be available in three early bird reservation tiers: $399, $449, and $499.

The Enough Phone is part of a trend in the smartphone industry where smaller screens are becoming less common, with Apple stopping the sale of the iPhone Mini in 2023 and Asus pausing its mobile division to focus on other technologies.

What this adds

The Enough Phone's launch on Kickstarter marks a return to smaller screens in the smartphone market, a trend that has been largely abandoned by major manufacturers in favor of larger displays.
