Rams' Myles Garrett Set to Return Against Commanders
· Confirmed
In Short: Rams outside linebacker Myles Garrett is expected to return to action against the Washington Commanders this Sunday, according to coach Sean McVay.

Garrett has been sidelined for seven consecutive games due to a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery.
McVay noted that Garrett has made a significant impact in practice, feeling comfortable with the game plan.
Garrett's return is expected to bolster the Rams' pass rush, which has struggled without him.
"There were just some hitches in my gait," Garrett said, acknowledging the lingering effects of his injury.
"There were just things I was dealing with mechanically that just only continued to evolve, or I guess worsen, as I played more throughout that game," Garrett added.
The Rams have been cautious throughout Garrett's recovery, but he is now clearing all the necessary checkpoints.
"I think the offenses really have to pick their poison," Garrett said, referring to playing alongside fellow defensive standout Aaron Donald.
The Commanders will need to prepare for Garrett's return, as he is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year and set the single-season record with 23 sacks in 2025.
"It’s hard to simulate any type of explosiveness like that," Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said.
"The Rams’ pass rush has been staggeringly poor without Garrett," noted A to Z Sports.
What this adds
The Rams have not officially activated Garrett yet, but the possibility alone creates a significant problem for Washington.
The team is still determining how much Garrett will play in his first game back and if he will be on any kind of snap count.
What's confirmed
- According to Garafolo, Garrett has practiced throughout the week, and indications point toward him playing after missing seven consecutive games following knee surgery.
- Rams outside linebacker Myles Garrett is expected to play Sunday against the Commanders "barring any sort of setbacks" with his knee injury, coach Sean McVay said Friday.
- The Rams are still working through how much Garrett will play, McVay said, adding that the pass rusher has "really done a great job in practice" this week.
- The Rams will be welcoming linebacker Myles Garrett back to their lineup on Sunday.
- A report earlier in the day indicated that would be the case and the Commanders can now be certain that they have to plan for Garrett this weekend.
What's still developing
- Garrett doesn’t nudge a defense in the right direction.
- Of course, they're tied for 26th in the sport with 12.0 sacks, which is an area where Garrett's return will help, among other respects.
- A team effort will be required to slow Garrett if he does return, with chipping tight ends and running backs helping offensive tackles on both flanks.
- Garrett, 30, was sidelined for most of training camp because of a left knee problem.
- Linebacker Grant Stuard (hamstring), receiver Jordan Whittington (back), cornerback Trent McDuffie (back), tight end Colby Parkinson (ribs) and safety Kam Curl (foot) are all listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Commanders.
- Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Myles Garrett is expected to return Sunday against the Washington Commanders, head coach Sean McVay told reporters Friday, according to team website writer Stu Jackson.
- Los Angeles acquired Garrett from the Cleveland Browns in a blockbuster offseason deal that included Jared Verse and a 2027 first-round pick.
- Garrett later admitted that his knee was bothering him, and after undergoing surgery, he was placed on IR.
- He returned to practice Wednesday after missing the last seven games, although he remained a limited participant on Thursday.
- “Integrating back with them again.” After Garrett missed the past seven games, the Rams (4-4) are still determining how much Garrett will be able to play in his first game back and if he will be on any kind of snap count.
- And with the Rams secondary theoretically equipped to survive Watson's absence, getting Garrett back to boost a lopsided pass rush could prove to be a net gain once he reaches full strength.
- Coach Sean McVay announced Garrett's likely availability, barring a late setback, on Friday before practice.
