The Baltimore Ravens are finalizing a trade to acquire veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals, multiple sources reported on Wednesday. The move comes as the Ravens face serious injuries at the quarterback position, with both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley sidelined.

Brissett's recent stint with the Cardinals saw him start 20 games over the past season and a half, going 4-16. He has thrown for 1,719 yards and 10 touchdowns with a 63.3% completion rate in eight starts this season, as reported by TheScore. Additionally, he has 17 rushing touchdowns on 1,232 rushing yards, highlighting his dual-threat capabilities.

The trade seems to be a direct response to the Ravens' quarterback injuries. Starter Lamar Jackson and backup Tyler Huntley both suffered season-ending injuries in their recent loss to the Buffalo Bills. Huntley's turf toe injury, which will end his season, was confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport earlier Wednesday.

With Jackson and Huntley out, the Ravens are turning to undrafted rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano, who will make his first career start Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team's need for a veteran presence at quarterback is evident, and Brissett's availability from the Cardinals dovetails perfectly with Baltimore's urgent need.

The trade was set in motion after Brissett was benched for Gardner Minshew II midway through Arizona’s game against the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday. Minshew led the Cardinals to a 33-30 comeback victory in overtime, a performance that prompted head coach Mike LaFleur to name Minshew the starting quarterback, moving Brissett to third string.

The deal is expected to be finalized this weekend, with the Cardinals sending their former starting quarterback to the quarterback-needy Ravens. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the trade Wednesday morning, citing sources within the league.

In a statement, the Arizona Cardinals expressed respect for the process and noted that the trade seemed destined to happen. Head coach Mike LaFleur said, 'Out of respect for the process and just working to get stuff finalized, I really don’t have much of a comment on it.'

What this adds
