China Unveils Crewed Moon Mission Details
Confirmed
In Short: Yesterday, Wang Xiang, deputy chief designer of China's crewed space program and chief designer of the lunar exploration program, unveiled the official plans for a crewed mission to the Moon.

The mission will use two Long March-10 rockets to launch elements to the Moon separately, as stated by Deputy chief engineer Zhang Hailian of the China Manned Space Engineering (CMSE) office.
The CMSE officially named the lander design 'Lanyue' ('embracing the Moon') in early 2024, following its unveiling in September 2023.
In contrast, NASA launched an uncrewed Artemis I capsule on a circumlunar flight to validate key systems before a crewed Orion spacecraft flew four astronauts around the Moon with Artemis II.
China's space program faces numerous hurdles, including technical challenges and geopolitical considerations, as it aims to achieve a crewed Moon landing.
