The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Nov. 3 that Russia has lost 1,594,830 troops since the start of its full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, 2022.
According to the report, Russia has also lost significant military equipment, including 12,452 tanks, 25,633 armored combat vehicles, 169,473 vehicles and fuel tanks, 51,840 artillery systems, 2,252 multiple-launch rocket systems, 1,731 air defense systems, 452 aircraft, 356 helicopters, 3,067 unmanned ground vehicles, 35 ships and boats, and two submarines.
The report also noted that Russian forces lost territory for the second consecutive month amid record troop losses, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The ISW said it had assessed that Russian forces had lost more territory in October than they had consolidated.
On Nov. 1, the Russian army lost 2,500 troops in a single day, the highest number of Russian casualties in a 24-hour period since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on October 31 that Russia lost an estimated 1,670 troops and hundreds of pieces of military equipment over the past 24 hours, bringing its total personnel losses since the start of the full-scale invasion to approximately 1,588,170.
Another 1,663 operational-tactical UAVs were recorded as lost, pushing the total to 590,661.
Battlefield positions have changed little since last year, in part because swarms of drones severely restrict troop movements, but Kyiv's forces launched a recent offensive, code-named Operation Vivaldi, on part of the 800-mile front line.
