Billy Evans Hosts AMA on X, Addresses Rumors About Cocaine and Holmes
· Confirmed
In Short: When asked about rumors that cocaine might be to blame for his behavior in the documentary 'You Can See Everything,' Evans wrote, 'Never been a fan.' He clarified that his frequent onscreen sniffing was due to allergies, not drug use.

Billy Evans hosted an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on his X account on Monday, November 2, where he addressed various questions from fans.
Evans also discussed his relationship with Holmes, stating that he does not need her approval for posts on her X account because he knows what she would say. He explained that he gained access to her account by contacting the company directly because it was tied to an old Theranos email and Holmes had forgotten her password.
In the film, Evans revealed that he currently holds power of attorney over Holmes, who once led the biotechnology company Theranos. He denied having any real control over her social media accounts but admitted that he still has strong feelings for her.
Evans addressed the burning question of what his cousin's 'thing' was, which he described as a vague reference to a family matter. He explained that he was late for his cousin's 'thing' early in the film, a detail that had left many viewers confused.
Evans also went into detail about his relationship with Holmes, denying that he has any real control over her but admitting that he’s still romantically crazy about her. He wrote, 'I miss everything about her. I miss her presence. Her touch. The way she runs her fingers through my hair. Her patience. She makes me a better person. And without her, I feel an emptiness that’s hard to describe.'
Evans pushed back against the suggestion that he is controlling in his relationship with Holmes, 42, whom he has been dating since 2017. He said, 'We talk about everything, including X. Nothing happened behind her back.'
Evans also addressed the scene where he undressed and stepped into the shower, saying he was late for his cousin's 'thing,' which he described as a vague reference to a family matter. He said, 'The POA was simply the legal mechanism that allowed me to act on her behalf while she’s incarcerated. It was not a substitute for her consent.'
What this adds

You Can See Everything is a 2026 American metadocumentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. What's confirmed
- And on Monday, November 2, Evans spent some time answering questions from fans… everything was on the table other than his caveat that every question “needs to be legally permissible.” He tried to clarify some of the film ‘s more confusing moments, including his frequent onscreen sniffing, which he chalked up to allergies.
- However, co-director Oppenheim, 30, offered a different account in an interview with Vulture published Oct. 19, saying Evans undressed and stepped into the shower while cameras rolled, without discussing how he wanted the scene to be filmed.
- He additionally said that he gained access to Holmes’ X account by contacting the company directly because the account “was tied to an old Theranos email” and Holmes had forgotten her password.
- In “You Can See Everything,” Evans explains to Fielder that he has been posting on Holmes’ social media accounts while the Theranos founder is incarcerated.
What's still developing
- People often say they need someone when what they really mean is… Perhaps most importantly, he addressed the burning question of what his cousin’s “thing” was.
- Early in the film, Evans abruptly cuts off a conversation with Fielder on the beach when the topic turns to his family’s wealth by vaguely stating that he’s late for his cousin’s thing.
- Other AMA questions focused on his cultural tastes, and Evans used the platform to express his love for Chappell Roan, Kendrick Lamar, Charlie Kirk, and Taylor Swift (he said he bought Holmes’ engagement ring at the Reputation tour merch booth).
- Evans said they celebrated Fielder’s birthday during production, “around the table in Del Mar with my family.” He said Fielder missed the Time 100 dinner — the magazine named the comedian one of the 100 most influential people in 2023 — so they celebrated that too.
- Culture critic and podcast host Hunter Harris asked Evans whether he thought Christopher Abbott — who plays Evans in reenactments opposite Amanda Seyfried as Elizabeth Holmes — was miscast.
- In the film, he told Fielder and Oppnehim that he has been posting for Holmes on her X account and sharing AI-generated images of her likeness.
- To start, he has no regrets about participating in You Can See Everything, and when asked about his suspicious sniffing during the second half of the film (which some suspected was a result of cocaine use), he chalked it up to catching colds from his two kids and allergies.
- ‘You Can See Everything’ follows Billy Evans and Elizabeth Holmes in the 34 days before she began her federal prison sentence in 2023 Tommy McArdle is a Writer-Reporter on the Movies team at PEOPLE.
- Evans and Holmes, who share son William, born in 2021, and daughter Invicta, born in 2023, gave Fielder and Oppenheim extensive access to their private lives in the weeks leading up to the start of Holmes’ federal prison sentence in May 2023.
- 3 Elizabeth Holmes ’ partner, Billy Evans, claimed that seasonal allergies were responsible for his “sniffling” in Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim ’s A24 documentary You Can See Everything.
- Before this post even begins in earnest, let’s just get this out of the way: If you have not seen You Can See Everything, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s documentary about convicted Theranos fraudster Elizabeth Holmes, you should absolutely stop reading right now, close this tab, and get yourself to a movie theater.
- At one point in the film, Holmes tells Fielder she’s not getting paid to participate in the film; but according to Fielder and Oppenheim, Evans struck a deal with them and A24 to receive some compensation.
