Apple is expanding the capabilities of its Siri AI, allowing developers to integrate the voice assistant's new features into all apps in iOS 27.3, available to developers as of today, according to MacRumors and The Verge. The update includes more complex tasks across Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts, and Weather.

According to 9to5Mac, once the iOS 27 public beta is installed, Siri AI is the best place to start. However, Apple Intelligence requires iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Beta software can include bugs, reduced battery life, and third-party app compatibility problems.

The Apple Beta Software Program is free, and users don’t need a developer account. Apple recommends installing beta software on a secondary device.

CNET reports that Apple’s Siri is trying to make friends in the AI world. This could get awkward if the AI starts giving bad information or explicit content, as seen with Grok. Apple is opening up Siri partnerships with all kinds of AI while maintaining its proprietary voice assistant.

The new Siri AI update will be free for all Apple-silicon Macs via Software Update, bringing conversational context retention and expanded language support to the Mac mini and other devices, according to reports.

Siri’s newest development involves learning from a range of leading chatbots, according to CNET. A representative from Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

HomeView, announced during Apple’s October 13 “Welcome home” event, combines a 7-inch touchscreen, Siri AI, FaceTime, music playback, and smart home controls. With a supported iCloud+ subscription, HomeView works with compatible cameras to deliver intelligent, end-to-end encrypted recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, packages, and vehicles, notifying the household the moment someone arrives at the front door.

Engadget reported that in early testing, Siri AI was able to answer complex questions and carry out multi-step prompts. However, expanded access will cost extra in the future, according to Tech-Ish.

The device forms the centerpiece of Apple’s biggest smart home push to date, sitting alongside the newly announced HomePod mini 2, Apple TV 4K, and Apple Home Collection accessories.

Apple Intelligence will launch in China in December with iOS 27.3, according to Iclarified. Preorders opened on October 13, and shipping starts on November 13.

Despite the head start, Apple's voice AI has been comprehensively overtaken in recent years, and made to look rather primitive compared to the many generative AI rivals it’s now up against, according to WIRED.

The “Surprise and Shine” event also revealed the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and new Apple Watches, according to Consequence.

What this adds

The new update includes conversational context retention and expanded language support, as reported by WarpBeat. However, the exact cost and start date for expanded access have not been established.
