· Confirmed
In Short: Actor Jack Lowden has addressed the speculation that he could be the next James Bond, describing the rumors as "all very flattering" but declining to confirm or deny his involvement.

Actor Jack Lowden has addressed the speculation that he could be the next James Bond, describing the rumors as "all very flattering" but declining to confirm or deny his involvement.
In an interview with British GQ, Lowden said, "It’s very nice, and Gary’s a sweetheart – it’s particularly lovely, coming from someone like him. But I don’t really listen to it."
Lowden, who grew up in Oxton in the Scottish Borders, is best known for his roles in films like "Dunkirk" and "Mary Queen of Scots," as well as TV roles in "Slow Horses" and "War and Peace."
During an appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival, Oldman clarified his remarks, saying he had only heard a rumor that producers had selected an actor from a shortlist, not that Lowden had been cast.
Lowden participated in screen tests last month alongside Callum Turner and Josh O'Connor, according to reports.
The next Bond film is in development, with Steven Knight writing the script for the reboot of the spy franchise.
Lowden noted that being linked to 007 is a rite of passage for British actors of a certain age and look, but he is not keen to add to the ongoing conversation surrounding the casting process.
It’s all very flattering," Lowden told GQ, adding, "I do not know who has gotten the part, but I’m hoping it’s Jack.
The upcoming James Bond film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release in 2028, according to People.
"It’s nice to be mentioned – for any role – and I'm just not really going to add to the noise," Lowden said, emphasizing his reluctance to fuel further speculation.
What this adds
While the publications agree that Lowden is flattered by the rumors, they differ on whether he has confirmed his involvement in the screen tests or the extent of his interest in the role.
