Savannah Guthrie, co-host of 'Today,' renewed her plea for information about her mother Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, which occurred nine months ago in Tucson, Arizona. Guthrie shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, urging anyone with information to come forward and help her family find closure.
Guthrie's post, which included a $1 million reward from the family and a $100,000 reward from the FBI, highlighted the ongoing agony her family faces. She expressed her family's desperation, stating, 'We ache for her, we cry out for answers, we cannot move forward. We need someone to help us, tell us what you know.'
The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for information about Nancy Guthrie's whereabouts, in addition to the $1 million reward from the family. This reward was initially set at $100,000 and was later increased to $200,000 before reaching $1 million on February 28, according to Variety.
Guthrie's post also mentioned that the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) released two previously received ransom notes in June, hoping to generate new leads. Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home shortly after she was dropped off by family members the night of January 31, as reported by Newsweek.
Guthrie emphasized the emotional toll on her family, saying, 'For Annie and Tommy, for Cam and Kristine, for Mike and me and for all of mom’s beloved grandchildren: we ache for her, we cry out for answers, we cannot move forward.' She also thanked those who have been kind and supportive, adding, 'Join us in praying without ceasing.'
The family's plea for information comes as investigators continue to work on the case. In July, a hair found in Nancy Guthrie's home did not lead to a suspect after testing. More recently, the sheriff's office traveled to Florida to meet with lab scientists to see what more could be done to advance the case, as stated on X.
Guthrie's post also included a message to her young children, expressing their need for their mother, 'I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy.' She also thanked those who have been kind and shown the best of humanity, adding, 'Please help us.'
The family's ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie includes a consultation that builds on forensic work that began soon after her disappearance. Authorities have not conclusively connected recovered gloves to the person captured in surveillance footage outside Guthrie's home the night she went missing.
