The New York City Marathon, one of the world's largest and most prestigious races, will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, uniting runners and spectators from all five boroughs of New York City.

The marathon, which has been a tradition for nearly six decades, offers open registration for anyone to sign up, including celebrities. This year, the race is expected to draw nearly 60,000 runners, with city traffic stopping to accommodate the 26.2-mile route.

In addition to the live broadcast, streaming services like Fubo and cable alternatives offer ways to watch the marathon for free. Fubo starts at $63.99 for the first month, with more than 230 channels, including ABC7NY and ESPN, available for streaming on various devices.

The world half marathon champion has been training rigorously, running more than 135 miles a week in preparation for the New York City Marathon. He expressed confidence in his training and readiness for the race.

The New York City Marathon has a rich history of celebrity sightings, with famous actors, actresses, and recording artists participating in the race. This year, there is speculation that Harry Styles might run in the marathon.

The race will feature British interest in the form of Patrick Dever, who secured a podium finish last year, and Jack Rowe, who recently achieved a breakthrough at the London Marathon.

Olympic and World Championships marathon gold medallist Peres Jepchirchir, who has won major marathons in New York (2021), Boston (2022), London (2024), and Sydney (2026), has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after a positive test for erythropoietin (EPO).

Jepchirchir's agent, Gianni Demadonna, confirmed that the positive test came from a sample collected on July 17, 2026, six weeks before she won the Sydney Marathon.

The New York City Marathon is not just a race but a celebration of community and unity, bringing strangers together in the pursuit of 26.2 miles.

For those unable to attend in person, the marathon will be broadcast nationally, allowing friends, family members, and fans to tune in and watch loved ones and professional runners.

The marathon's route starts in Staten Island and works its way up to Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, with a dash north to The Bronx before heading back south and entering Central Park.
