· ConfirmedShare on
In Short: This year’s midterms are projected to break records for the total amount of spending in a political election cycle, with Americans expected to be inundated by more than $11 billion in advertising by the time polls close.

On Tuesday, voters across the United States will cast their ballots in the 2026 midterm elections, with control of Congress potentially hinging on a few closely contested Senate and House races.
The most expensive House race is in New Jersey’s 7th District, where Democrat Rebecca Bennett is challenging Republican Rep. Tom Kean Jr., son of a popular former governor. Spending on this year’s New Jersey congressional races has topped $100 million, fueled by several hotly contested primaries, two special elections, a well-financed Senator, and the critical 7th District race.
In the 7th District, CLF, one of two GOP committees, has backed away from the race, as Republicans seek to prevent losses in other states where they had not initially thought incumbents to be vulnerable.
The RealClearPolitics average showed Ossoff ahead by 8.2 points, 51.2% to 43%, and Cook rates the race Likely Democratic.
