On Saturday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a statement on his official Telegram account ordering the armed forces to respond immediately and without geographic limits to any enemy threat. The directive was issued following a meeting with senior military commanders.

According to Arabnews, Khamenei also instructed the military to update its target list to include all US and Israeli “physical and non-physical” assets, emphasizing Iran’s readiness to determine the timing and conditions for ending any renewed military or terrorist attacks by its enemies.

The statement, which was echoed by multiple outlets including The Times of Israel and The Indian Express, underscores Iran’s resolve to respond to any threats from the United States and Israel, who have been engaged in direct military confrontations with Iran under Netanyahu’s leadership.

Khamenei’s directive also included reports on readiness in the Gulf waters, the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman, and the northwestern and southeastern borders of Iran, alongside a reported “doubling of production” of various types of ammunition and reconnaissance, support, and combat weapons.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Vance had sent a letter to Iran’s security chief at the direction of President Donald Trump in a bid to revive negotiations and avert further US strikes.

Khamenei’s latest instructions come amid continuing tensions following the U.S. And Israeli military campaign against Iran, which began on February 28 and resulted in the death of then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior military commanders.

Khamenei’s statement also emphasized the need for “smart combat readiness” as a requirement of “maximum deterrence,” calling for strengthening military intelligence, deepening indigenous defense in doctrine and tactics, using new technologies, and boosting financial support for the armed forces.

The directive was issued during a meeting with senior military commanders, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, and reflects the ongoing tensions and speculation over a possible resumption of the Middle East war.

The Times of Israel reported that a former Trump administration official familiar with White House foreign policy deliberations described Trump’s obsession with preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

The statement attributed to Khamenei and published on his website said, “If the enemies launch further military or terrorist attacks, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people will determine the timing and conditions of their end.”
