In Short: South Carolina police have closed their investigation into the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, ruling it accidental.

South Carolina police have closed their investigation into the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, ruling it accidental, according to a statement released Wednesday.
The Greenville Police Department said in a statement, 'Based on the Medical Examiner’s determination and the findings of the investigation, Hayden Panettiere’s death has been ruled accidental.'
The Greenville County Coroner's Office had previously ruled Panettiere's death an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and other substances.
Emergency responders were called to a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on Aug. 16, where they found Panettiere unresponsive.
The coroner's report stated that Panettiere died from the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine, with no signs of trauma.
Panettiere, 36, was found in cardiac arrest and emergency responders attempted life-saving measures before she was pronounced dead.
The Greenville Police Department said it had concluded its investigation, but a representative for Panettiere told ABC News that the Drug Enforcement Administration's investigation was still ongoing.
Panettiere's on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were at the apartment when officers responded.
In a petition to a California court last month, Panettiere’s ex-fiance, former boxer Wladimir Klitschko, said some of her property had been taken by federal law enforcement agents investigating her death.
The Greenville Police Department's announcement comes more than a month after the Greenville County Coroner's Office ruled her death an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and other substances.
