Former President Bill Clinton is set to campaign for Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom in Mississippi, aiming to boost Colom's chances in the upcoming election. According to Mississippitoday, Clinton emphasized Colom's ability to work across party lines and prioritize Mississippi's interests over those of the Trump administration.

SuperTalk Mississippi Media reported that Clinton will headline a campaign event on Friday in Tupelo, joining other prominent Democrats like James Carville and Mitch Landrieu.

Mississippitoday quoted Clinton as saying, 'I’m supporting Scott because he will honestly give you his opinion, and if you disagree, he’ll have a conversation with you. And if you can change his mind, he’ll change his mind.' Clinton also criticized incumbent Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith, noting her interview on WLOX where she said 'you know, you have so many proteins to choose from' when discussing high beef prices.

WAPT reported that Clinton will appear at an event in Tupelo with Colom and other Democrats, highlighting issues such as rising gas and grocery prices and the impact of tariffs on farmers and small businesses.

Wlbt and Wtva confirmed Clinton's visit to a Democratic rally in Tupelo, noting that Colom is running against incumbent Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith and Independent Ty Pinkins. Both outlets reported that President Donald Trump had visited Corinth on Monday to campaign for Hyde-Smith.

Mississippitoday and SuperTalk Mississippi Media both reported that Clinton and other White House alumni, including former Vice President Kamala Harris and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, have been campaigning for Colom.

Mississippitoday quoted Clinton as saying, 'I don’t believe we need a senator to explain the existence of chicken,' and 'Because you make so much furniture, you not only pay more for the food, you pay more to sit down at the table and eat it.' Clinton clarified that these were 'a shopping tip, not a policy.'

WAPT and Wxxv25 reported that Clinton's visit aims to push Democrats to an election day victory on Tuesday, with Wxxv25 noting that Clinton has visited Mississippi before during election seasons, including in 2016 when he campaigned for his wife, Hillary Clinton, in Jackson.
