Selma Blair Apologizes for JFK Airport Arrest
Confirmed
In Short: Actress Selma Blair has broken her silence on her arrest at John F.

Actress Selma Blair has broken her silence on her arrest at John F. Kennedy International Airport on October 11, where she was accused of assaulting airline employees and a nurse. In an Instagram video posted on Friday, Blair said, 'I take this very seriously,' and apologized for her actions.
On October 11, the Port Authority Police Department responded to a call about a physically abusive passenger aboard Delta flight 938, which had arrived from Los Angeles International Airport. The passenger was identified as Blair, who was taken into custody and transported to a hospital.
A criminal complaint filed later in Queens charged Blair with two counts of assault in the second degree under New York Penal Law 120.05(3) for alleged altercations with a Port Authority officer and a registered nurse. Additionally, Blair was issued a violation notice alerting her that she is facing federal charges of assaults within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
Blair pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on an $80,000 bond. A judge set bail at $20,000 cash, $60,000 bond, or $60,000 partially secured bond. She is expected back in court on January 11.
In her statement, Blair said, 'What I can tell you though is very simple, and the truest thing I know about myself in that not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life. And so to the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed: I am so sorry.'
Blair's attorneys suggested that her actions were the result of a medical emergency. They stated that she had missed her medication prescribed to treat her multiple sclerosis and had been working extensive hours on set in the days leading up to the flight. One of her attorneys, Shawn Barnes, said, 'These factors coupled with the altitude resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation.'
The 911 dispatch audio from the incident captured the pilot requesting medical assistance and law enforcement officers when the plane landed to deal with an 'abusive' passenger. Blair was also accused of hitting a cop at the airport and later a nurse at the hospital where she was transported.
Blair concluded her statement by saying, 'So right now, I'm going to be taking care of my health and my son and thinking of you all with gratitude and love.'

What's still developing
- “This was not an intentional assault.” Blair later broke her silence on the incident through her representative, who suggested there was “much more to this story.” Your voice matters.
- “It should be noted Selma has worked on seven film and television projects in 2026 alone, only a couple of which have been announced. She has launched a skin care line, a clothing line, and a line of eye-glass readers, each built around the idea of beauty and utility for people whose bodies do not always cooperate,” the rep continued.
