Convicted Murderer Escapes Tennessee Prison, Gets 5-Hour Head Start
Confirmed
In Short: Former federal prison Warden Cameron Lindsay says Morley’s escape raises serious questions about staff failures after video showed the convicted murderer moving through the facility seemingly unimpeded.

Jacob Allen Morley, 28, escaped from Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee, on Sunday night, slipping through a fence while still in his prison uniform.
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations (TBI), Morley was unaccounted for at approximately 11:30 p.m. on October 25, 2026. Staff conducted an emergency count and search of the facility immediately upon realizing Morley was missing.
Security cameras confirmed Morley breached the perimeter fence and exited the facility in his TDOC uniform. He was last seen passing the Hornbeak Fire Department at 1:18 a.m. on Monday morning.
Morley was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a man whose body was discovered buried underneath Morley's home in March 2022.
The Northwest Correctional Complex, where Morley was housed, has an operating capacity to house 1,776 male inmates with custody levels ranging from minimum to close.
Authorities have located the truck allegedly stolen by Morley but his current location remains unknown. They are asking residents in the area to review home security and surveillance systems for potential sightings.
Anyone who encounters or believes they have spotted Morley should not approach, confront, or attempt to apprehend him, according to TDOC. Instead, they should immediately dial 911 and provide any relevant information to law enforcement.
