Alexander Skarsgard and Olivia Colman on the Joy of a Wicker Husband
Confirmed
In Short: In the new film Wicker, Alexander Skarsgård plays a Wicker Husband who falls in love with a fisherwoman played by Olivia Colman.

In the new film Wicker, Alexander Skarsgård stars as the Wicker Husband, a character who forms an unlikely romance with a fisherwoman portrayed by Olivia Colman.
Skarsgård, 50, and Colman, 52, both expressed excitement about their roles and the unique journey of making the film.
Colman, known for her Oscar-winning performances, said she knew the film would work once she saw Skarsgård in costume.
"They did an amazing job with this, and I hope and think and believe that people will go on this journey, be excited with all the twists and turns," Colman told Female First.
Skarsgård, who initially felt intimidated by the role, noted the physicality of the Wicker Husband was integral to his character development.
"Stepping into it was also a way of finding the character because it defined his physicality and who he was," Skarsgård said at the film's Sundance premiere.
The film, directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, is based on Ursula Mills' short story 'The Wicker Husband,' and explores themes of human connection and criticism of the patriarchy.
"None of the women [in the film] have their own names, except for the fisherwoman, and she’s shunned and ostracized for being sort of ugly and smelly, and unmarriable. But she shows them," Colman noted.
The film's quirky concept and satirical take on societal norms have garnered attention since its premiere at Sundance.
"Everything is exaggerated; he’s a work of art. Alex fills the Wicker Husband with a beautiful soul," Colman said, praising Skarsgård's performance.
"It was really exciting to be part of that journey. Like we're making something quite unique here. There's freedom in that," Skarsgård said.
