Ilhan Omar Asks Supporters for Money After DC Raid
Confirmed
In Short: Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., re-emerged Tuesday night with a campaign video posted to her official social media channels, asking supporters for financial assistance following a raid on her Washington, D.C., home.

In the video, Omar thanked her supporters and asked for donations, saying, 'Please continue to support us. It's going to be a very expensive and challenging time. So we appreciate whether you're able to send $5, $10, $20. Thank you.'
Omar's home was raided by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) last Monday as part of an investigation into potential immigration fraud. She became a naturalized citizen in 2000, when she was 17.
Omar stated in a written statement posted to X that the raid was 'an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies.'
The investigation centers around claims that Omar or her late father may have lied on decades-old immigration paperwork to secure legal status, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Omar emphasized her determination to continue campaigning, saying, 'I'll be out there campaigning alongside all of you, and making sure that we beat back all of this, and that we win in the midterms.'
She also framed the raid as an attempt to intimidate her and other political opponents before the midterm elections, stating, 'We know that they're running scared.'
Omar's lawyers have said the department violated the judge’s restrictions, failed to notify her or the House general counsel’s office as required, and prevented her from reaching her attorney for more than an hour after the search began.
Republican politicians have been questioning Omar’s immigration record for a long time, and the raid has intensified these allegations.
Omar thanked her supporters again in the video, saying, 'Thank you so much again, and please continue to support us.'
What this adds
The raid on Omar's home has raised concerns about the politicization of federal investigations and the potential violation of her constitutional rights.
