Vice President JD Vance Welcomes Fourth Child
Confirmed
In Short: Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha announced the birth of their fourth child, a boy named Alec Neel Vance, on July 19.

Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha announced the birth of their fourth child, a boy named Alec Neel Vance, on Sunday, July 19, according to EWTN News and People.
In a statement to People, the couple expressed gratitude for the military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit who have taken care of their family.
JD Vance, a former U.S. Marine, has long spoken about the importance of raising children, emphasizing that it is the most rewarding thing one can do.
Usha Vance, who is Hindu, has shared that the family attends Mass together and sends their children to Catholic schools, despite her own religious background.
Vance was received into the Catholic Church in 2019 and recently released a book about his faith journey titled “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.”
The couple has three other children: Ewan, 9; Vivek, 6; and Mirabel, 4.
JD Vance has been vocal about his desire to see more children in the United States, referencing this sentiment at the 2026 March for Life rally in Washington, D.C.
He said, “I want more happy children in our country, and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them.”
Vance has also expressed alarm about declining birth rates in America, a concern he first raised when he launched his political career in 2021.
In a June 2025 interview with Megan McCain, Usha Vance said that after her husband converted to Catholicism, they had to have “a lot of real conversations about how” to raise their children.
Vance said in an interview earlier this year, “Children are the most rewarding thing.” He added, “If I have one regret, it’s that I wish we had started earlier and had more, because it’s the most rewarding thing; it’s the coolest thing.”
