Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Won't Play Against Browns
· Confirmed
In Short: Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will not play in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns due to an ankle injury.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that quarterback Lamar Jackson had a realistic chance to return for Sunday’s AFC North showdown against the Cleveland Browns. However, on Friday, head coach Jesse Minter announced that Jackson would not play due to his ankle injury.
Jackson missed four games last season, and the Ravens went 2-2 without him. This season, the team is coming off a division loss to the Browns, where they dropped an ugly 13-10 game in Cleveland.
Despite some encouraging injury updates earlier in the week, Jackson's status remained uncertain until Friday's announcement. Coach Minter said the decision was made in Jackson's best interest, as he has not practiced for the last two weeks.
Tyler 'Snoop' Huntley will start for the Ravens for a second straight week. Huntley accounted for three total touchdowns and posted a 111.6 passer rating in the Ravens' 30-23 overtime win over the Falcons last week.
Minter praised Huntley for his performance, noting that Huntley has been serviceable as the Ravens' replacement quarterback. However, the team is eager to get Jackson back on the field as soon as possible.
Jackson's current average annual salary of $52 million makes him the league's 12th highest-paid quarterback. The Ravens will likely need to strike a new deal with Jackson after the year to shed salary, as they're projected to be $41.5 million over the cap next campaign.
Asked if Jackson's injury is considered short or long term, Minter said, 'I really don't think it's going to be crazy long term, but we'll see what happens.' With Jackson as their starting quarterback, the Ravens are 79-32 (.712), averaging 28.4 points per game.
Even if Jackson is feeling better, the Ravens should give him one more week to make sure that his ankle is 100 percent. Huntley will continue to lead the team in Jackson's absence.
The Browns also reported a laundry list of injuries ahead of their Week 6 matchup. Five players, including defensive tackles Mike Hall and Kalia Davis, were ruled out.
The Ravens will start Tyler Huntley at quarterback for a second straight week. Huntley is 5-6 in 11 starts for the Ravens over the last five years.
Jackson led the Ravens to a 3-1 start this season before going down with the injury in Week 4. He has watched the last two games from the sideline.
Minter said the team's confidence in Huntley's preparation and performance is high, but they need to find the perfect balance for their offense to succeed.
