Pacino, who has been nominated for nine Oscars and has won numerous other awards, expressed his gratitude in a statement, saying, 'I wondered and wandered most of my life but have always felt at home with a script and my fellow actors. It’s the work and the actors along the way that have been among the greatest joys of my life.'

The award recognizes not only his contributions to the film industry but also his humanitarian work, including support for disaster relief and local theater companies.

SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin praised Pacino, stating, 'When you watch him perform, you are witnessing a student and a master. Al Pacino is an artist of extraordinary courage, intensity and heart whose work has always set an exceptional standard of skill and talent. All of that and he’s just plain fun to watch.'

Pacino’s career spans seven decades, with his major film debut coming with 1971’s 'The Panic in Needle Park.' He has since starred in numerous critically acclaimed films, including 'Scarface,' 'Carlito’s Way,' and 'Scent of a Woman,' for which he won an Academy Award.

In addition to his film work, Pacino has also made significant contributions to television, earning an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for his role in HBO’s 'Angels in America.'

The SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award is given annually to an actor who fosters the 'finest ideals of the acting profession.' Past recipients include Eddie Cantor, Stan Laurel, Bob Hope, Barbara Stanwyck, and James Stewart.

Pacino’s previous lifetime-achievement honors include an AFI Life Achievement Award, a Kennedy Center Honor, and the Golden Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Award.

The Screen Actors Guild launched the Actor Awards in 1995 as the SAG Awards, meaning the honor did not exist when Pacino turned in some of his most acclaimed performances in 'The Panic in Needle Park,' 'The Godfather' trilogy, 'Scarecrow,' 'Serpico,' 'Dog Day Afternoon,' 'Scarface,' 'Carlito’s Way,' 'Scent of a Woman,' and others.

Pacino has also been nominated for three Actor Awards for his TV performances in 'Angels in America,' 'You Don’t Know Jack,' and 'Phil Spector,' winning for the first two.

The veteran actor will become the 62nd recipient of the guild’s top honor, and his career has left an indelible mark on generations of actors and culture itself.
