Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has signed an overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, marking a significant move for the acclaimed television writer and director.

Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, praised Levinson, stating, “Sam Levinson is one of the most daring and original voices in television today, with a fearless commitment to authentic storytelling that resonates with audiences around the world.”

Levinson expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “We’re thrilled to welcome Sam and Ashley and to give them the creative freedom and global platform to develop their projects. Peter and his team have inspired us from our very first conversation.”

Under the agreement, Levinson will exclusively create and develop series projects for Amazon MGM and streamer Prime Video. His Tiny Goat Productions partner and wife, Ashley Levinson, will also be involved in executive producing services.

Levinson’s previous deal was with HBO, where all of his television work has aired. His most recent project, the final season of Euphoria, debuted after significant delays in production.

The final season of Euphoria averaged some 25 million viewers worldwide, up from 21.5 million for season two in 2022, according to internal data from HBO.

Levinson and Ashley Levinson will develop and produce television projects for Prime Video and other Amazon MGM platforms via their Tiny Goat Productions banner.

The deal comes as Prime Video continues to strengthen its young adult slate, with recent launches including Mike Flanagan’s take on Stephen King’s Carrie.

Levinson’s move to Amazon follows the conclusion of Euphoria’s third and final season on HBO, which faced delays and tragedies within the cast, including the death of Angus Cloud.

The Wrap noted that the deal also covers Ashley Levinson, who served as an executive producer on both of Levinson’s HBO series, Euphoria and The Idol, and also executive produced Ti West’s X trilogy.
