Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that two people were killed and 21 injured in a missile strike on an apartment block late on Tuesday, according to the BBC (United Kingdom).

Al Jazeera (Qatar) reported that the attack killed nine people and wounded 33 others, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warning that Ukraine has run out of interceptor missiles for its US Patriot air defense systems.

The Kyiv Independent (Ukraine) confirmed that Russian drone and missile attacks on Kyiv injured at least 43 people as of 5:00 p.m. local time.

In Solomianskyi, falling debris damaged a five-storey residential building and sparked a fire, and 35 people were evacuated from the upper floors, two died and eight were injured, including two children, according to Al Jazeera.

In Darnytskyi, seven people were killed and 14 injured as the attack caused fires and damaged homes, vehicles, and an administrative building.

Zelenskyy described the Russian attack as one of its “most vile strikes,” suggesting it was a “birthday gift” to Vladimir Putin, who turned 74 on Wednesday.

The attack was part of a larger wave of Russian strikes that included 27 ballistic missiles, with only one intercepted due to a lack of interceptors.

Zelenskyy stated that the targets were facilities that sustain the war effort, and that Ukraine had struck three Russian oil refineries in the Bashkortostan region.

The Moscow Times reported that Bulgaria stopped short of explicitly accusing Russia but suggested that the outcome benefited the Russian Federation.

The attack was the second major strike on Kyiv this week, with fires breaking out across the city and power outages reported in some areas.
