On his podcast 'The Edge' on Bleacher Report, Parsons said, 'Jayden Daniels probably cost my man Dan Quinn his job, to be honest with you.'

Parsons, who was Quinn's defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys from 2021 to 2023, emphasized that Daniels' mistake was inexcusable.

During a game against the New York Giants, Daniels failed to spike the ball to stop the clock with eight seconds left, resulting in a tie instead of a potential game-winning field goal.

Parsons noted that teams discuss situational football every day and that Daniels, who has been in big moments before, should have known better.

CBS Sports reported that the Commanders went 5-12 in 2025 with Daniels missing 10 games due to injury, a significant drop from the previous year's 12-5 record.

Daniels acknowledged his mistake, saying, 'We have to know the situation. We have to relay that as an offense. It starts with everyone, top down. Ultimately, it's on me.'

Quinn, however, took responsibility, saying, 'Offensive coordinator David Blough called the last play, but the head coach is ultimately responsible for what transpires.'

Despite Quinn's acknowledgment, Parsons dismissed the idea that the coaching staff deserved a share of the blame.

Parsons emphasized that Daniels' lack of preparation and urgency will likely cost Quinn his job.

NBC Sports suggested that Daniels' failure to take charge of the situation in the moment speaks to potential cultural flaws within the organization.

ESPN reported that Washington does not plan to fire Quinn or make any coaching changes following the gaffe.

The Commanders now face a record of 1-3-1, heading to San Francisco for a game against the undefeated 49ers.
