In Short: HBO has ordered two seasons of the new animated comedy series 'Merrick & Treves,' created by the 'Archer' team.

HBO has ordered two seasons of the new animated comedy series 'Merrick & Treves,' marking the network's return to original animated content after a few years.

Set inside Queen Victoria’s Royal Temporal Constabulary, 'Merrick & Treves' follows a team of unlikely heroes as they travel through time to stop Jack the Ripper.

The series is created by Adam Reed, Casey Willis, and Lucky Yates, who are known for their work on 'Archer' and 'Frisky Dingo.'

HBO's executive vice president of programming, Amy Gravitt, praised the trio, saying, 'Adam, Casey, and Lucky are exceptional comedic talents whom we have admired for years.'

Reed, Willis, and Yates expressed their excitement about the project, stating, 'We can’t wait to start working with the creative team behind so many of our favorite shows. It’s actually quite daunting, now that we think about it. Like, holy sh*t, y’all.'

The series is produced by TFC Productions, with Joel Begleiter and Kelly Wu serving as executive producers.

The show's creators have a history of reinventing their work, as seen in the later seasons of 'Archer,' which relocated and changed its central agency.

TheWrap noted that the series' title characters, Merrick and Treves, share names with the real-life figures Joseph Merrick and Sir Frederick Treves, known for their historical connection.

HBO's recent order of 'Merrick & Treves' follows the network's announcement of a 'Crazy Rich Asians' TV series last week.

The series is expected to bring a unique blend of humor and historical intrigue to HBO's lineup.
