The HomeView will come in two configurations: a countertop model with a metal speaker base and a wall-mounted version with a flat, square base.

According to reports, the HomeView will be powered by an A18 chip and feature a display, acting as a Siri command center.

Apple is also expected to unveil a new Apple TV set-top box powered by an A19 chip and an updated HomePod mini with an S10 chip, extending voice control and music playback throughout the household.

The HomeView will support select Apple apps, focusing on integration with smart home devices, and there will be no dedicated App Store for it.

The device is expected to ship around mid-November, roughly a month after its unveiling.

Apple’s HomeView represents a significant push into the smart home market, following previous attempts with HomeKit software and the HomePod smart speaker.

The HomeView name first appeared in a trademark filing by a shell company, a discovery reported by MacRumors.

According to Gurman, the HomeView will offer better sound quality than the new HomePod mini.

The software approach for the HomeView separates it from a general-purpose tablet, with a user interface that blends elements of Apple Watch, iPad, and Apple TV.

Apple is hoping that third parties will build accessories that can be controlled via Siri and other Apple devices, using HomeView as the central connecting hub.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
