Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Returns for Final Season in March
Confirmed
In Short: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will return for its final season on Paramount+ in March 2027, featuring guest stars Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt.

At New York Comic Con, the panel for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy revealed that the series will return for its final season in March 2027 on Paramount+.
Bill Nighy, known for his roles in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'Living,' will guest star as Nyk Ake, the estranged Lanthanite father of the school's chancellor, Nahla Ake, played by Holly Hunter.
Rosemarie DeWitt, known for her role in 'The Staircase,' will guest star as Laytha Sadal, the First Lady of Betazed and mother of Tarima Sadal, played by Zoe Steiner.
The panel, moderated by Collider's Perri Nemiroff, also showcased first-look images of season two, showing the cadets on a dangerous mission on an alien world.
Season two will follow the cadets into their second year aboard the USS Athena, taking them further away from their San Francisco campus into more challenging training missions in outer space.
The showrunners, Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, emphasized the emotional serialization of the season, with individual stories that get closed-ended by the end of each episode.
The series will explore new relationships and introduce new problems that will ripple through the cadets, potentially leading to unexpected romances.
The cadets will face a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself, testing their ideals of leadership, friendship, romance, and morality.
Kurtzman and Landau expressed their pride in the ambition, passion, and creativity that went into bringing Star Trek: Starfleet Academy to life.
The exact premiere date for season two has not yet been set, but it is confirmed to launch in March 2027.
The panel also hinted at the arrival of a mysterious new cadet whose existence raises questions that could have consequences far beyond the classroom.

- It was also fun — laying on the sarcasm pretty thick now — that the audio was missing when the live stream continued after the season 2 footage... for nearly three minutes!
- I’m also excited to continue following these two intriguing relationships, in particular, as they play out over the course of season 2: the love affair between Caleb Mir (Sandro Rosta) and Tarima Sadal (Steiner), plus Jay-Den Kraag (Karim Diane) and Darem Reymi's (George Hawkins) bromance, which showed glimpses of possibly becoming a romance throughout season 1.
- The biggest news from the Stafleet Academy season 2 NYCC panel, outside of the sneak peek, is that Rosemarie DeWitt will portray Tarima Sadal’s (Zoe Steiner) mom during the show's sophomore run.
- Nighy's character, Nyk Ake, is a Lanthanite, the long-lived species that also includes Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ' Commander Pelia (Carol Kane).
