President Donald Trump held a rally in San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday evening to support Republican candidate Ken Paxton's bid for the Senate seat.

Paxton, who is facing Democratic nominee James Talarico, has received significant backing from Trump's MAGA Inc. super PAC, which is spending $20 million to support his candidacy.

The rally comes amid controversy over a lawsuit filed by the family of Tierra Walker, a 37-year-old woman who died from preeclampsia while pregnant.

The lawsuit claims that Walker's life could have been saved if she had not been denied an abortion due to Texas' near-total ban on the procedure.

Walker's family alleges that healthcare providers refused to provide necessary medical care because of the 'immense culture of fear' surrounding abortion in Texas.

The Texas Medical Board stated that under current rules, physicians are not required to wait until a mother's life is in immediate danger before providing necessary medical care, which may include terminating a pregnancy.

Paxton has been a strong supporter of the law that prohibits elective abortions after a fetal heartbeat has been detected, typically at six weeks of pregnancy.

The lawsuit specifically names Paxton and Texas Medical Board Executive Director Stephen Brint Carlton as responsible for Walker's death.

Paxton's campaign has faced criticism over his handling of abortion issues, with some observers suggesting that Trump's support may not be helping his candidacy.

During a private fundraiser in Washington, D.C., Paxton reportedly told attendees that the convention had not helped him, despite Trump's strong support.
