Ravens Trade for Cam Jurgens to Solidify Center Position
Developing
In Short: The Baltimore Ravens traded with the Philadelphia Eagles for two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens, addressing a critical need at the center position.

The Baltimore Ravens traded with the Philadelphia Eagles for two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens, acquiring him in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, along with a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Eagles.
Jurgens, 27, signed a four-year, $68 million extension last offseason and has played at multiple positions on the offensive line over his five NFL seasons.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta expressed his admiration for Jurgens, stating, 'Cam is a player we have long admired going all the way back to the draft process.'
The trade comes as the Ravens have struggled with injuries at the center position this season. They lost their top three options at center due to injuries, forcing rookie first-round pick Vega Ioane to move from right guard to center.
Jurgens has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons and has played a combined 1,867 snaps at center from 2024-25.
In 2023, Jurgens spent the majority of his time at right guard and shifted to left guard this season.
The Ravens are hoping Jurgens will return to his natural position of center and provide stability for years to come.
Jurgens' move to guard this year has been challenging, but the Ravens believe he will excel at center.
The trade also comes as the Eagles are dealing with Lane Johnson's retirement and Landon Dickerson's injury, which forced them to shift Jurgens to left guard.
With Jurgens under contract through the 2029 season, the Ravens are optimistic about his impact on the team and the community.

What's still developing
- Six-time Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson announced his immediate retirement from the NFL on Tuesday afternoon, saying that it is "critical" that he focuses on his mental health at this moment.
- The Ravens had Danny Pinter suffer a torn patellar tendon in training camp, which ended his season before it began, then saw Jovaughn Gwyn suffer an ankle injury and Ethan Pocic a knee injury in the Week 3 victory against the Dallas Cowboys.
- Kendall has been manning the center position the past three weeks, with mixed results, while Lampkin should be in line for his first NFL start Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- In late August, Danny Pinter was closing in on winning the center job before he suffered a season-ending knee injury during a joint practice at the Minnesota Vikings.
- Ioane is expected to start his second straight game at center on Sunday night at the Atlanta Falcons but can move back to his natural position of guard when Jurgens is ready to take over at center.
