PlayStation announced the launch of a new Crunchyroll anime hub on the PS5 console, aiming to integrate anime more deeply into the gaming experience.

According to PlayStation’s blog, players can now access over 100 live channels and a growing selection of on-demand entertainment directly from the PS5’s Media section.

The new hub includes content from various providers such as Amazon MGM Studios, FOX, NBCUniversal, NFL Channel, and UFC, among others.

At the inaugural Crunchyroll Anime Future Forum, PlayStation president and CEO Hideaki Nishino revealed the partnership, which builds on the existing Crunchyroll app available since the PS5’s release in 2020.

Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini emphasized the importance of meeting fans where they are, stating, “Today, we take that partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment one step further with an anime hub on PlayStation.”

The PlayStation 5 FAST channel offering debuted in August, and Sony Pictures Television plans to expand it globally in the coming months.

Alongside premium streaming services, FAST channels are gaining traction in North America as cost-efficient providers of anime content.

The new Crunchyroll hub on PS5 is set to launch next year, aligning with Sony’s anime projects and anime-inspired games.
