Pakistan’s unwarranted references to Kashmir part of propaganda: Harivansh Singh at IPU meet
Confirmed
In Short: India's Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Harivansh Narayan Singh, dismissed Pakistan's comments on Kashmir as unwarranted at an international forum in Tanzania.

India's Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Harivansh Narayan Singh, exercised India's right to reply at an international forum in Tanzania, where Pakistan had made comments on Kashmir. Singh stated that Kashmir is an integral and inalienable part of India, and Pakistan has no standing to comment on India's internal affairs.
Singh emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are making progress in development and democracy. He highlighted the high voter turnout in the general elections, which reached 58.5%, the highest in the last 35 years, and 63% in the Assembly elections in 2024. Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir saw a record surge in tourists last year.
Singh also criticized Pakistan's attempts to politicize the forum and bring in unwarranted references to issues that do not fall within the forum's purview. He deplored the baseless allegations made by the Pakistani delegation and reiterated that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India was legal and irrevocable.
The Indian delegation further emphasized that the Union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh have always been and will remain integral parts of India. They dismissed any rhetoric or propaganda from Pakistan as irrelevant.
In a separate incident, security forces in Jammu & Kashmir found AK-47 ammunition, some Pakistani currency notes, and militants' posters during a raid at a local jewelry shop in Poonch town's main market. The police initially treated it as a terror case and arrested Mumtaz, who had previously been detained under the Public Safety Act.
However, the investigation took an unexpected turn when investigators uncovered a series of phone calls and messages seemingly from Pakistan, indicating a business rivalry and a conspiracy to frame a family in a terror investigation. The J&K Police has since taken into custody three people, including Mumtaz, for allegedly conspiring to frame the family of Davinder Singh, owner of Ruby Jewellers.
India also secured a victory over Pakistan in the Asian Games hockey semi-finals, defeating them 4-3 in a tense match. Harmanpreet Singh scored twice for India, helping them build a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. Despite Pakistan's efforts to close the gap, India maintained their lead and secured a win.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's reported collaboration with China on fifth-generation fighter jets has raised concerns for India. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, stated that while this is a cause for concern, the Indian Air Force has the capabilities to deal with the threat for now.
