Mecka AI, a startup focused on collecting and analyzing human motion data to train humanoid robots and other types of robots, announced it has secured a $60 million Series B funding round led by Sequoia Capital, with additional participation from Nvidia and Microsoft’s venture fund M12.
The startup, founded in 2024, pays individuals to perform everyday tasks while wearing body sensors and using smartphones. These tasks include activities such as making coffee or fixing cars, which are recorded to create a comprehensive dataset for robot training.
Mecka AI aims to provide a similar service to what companies like Scale AI and Micro1 offer for language models, but specifically for robotics. These companies supply the human-generated data that these systems learn from.
Other startups in the space, such as XDOF, are also raising significant funding rounds. TechCrunch previously reported that XDOF was in talks to raise a Series B round at a $1.2 billion valuation.
Mecka AI’s Series B round comes on the heels of Instinct, another robotics startup, which announced on September 28, 2026, that it had raised an additional $1 billion in Series C funding from Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital, and Coatue at a $10 billion valuation.
The startup’s goal is to revolutionize the robotics industry by providing high-quality, human-generated data that can be used to train robots to perform complex tasks.
TechCrunch also noted that Mecka AI was nearing a new funding round at a $500 million valuation, highlighting the growing interest in this sector.
Mecka AI’s approach to data collection and analysis is part of a broader trend in the tech industry, where human-data platforms are expanding into robotics to support the development of more sophisticated and capable robots.
