Lego's first live-action musical feature, 'Lego Friends: Heartlake the Musical,' is set to premiere on multiple streaming platforms and Lego's YouTube channel globally.
Produced by Final Pixel and written by Thatcher and Jeremy Adams, the 50-minute original story is directed by Kenny Ortega, known for his work on 'High School Musical.'
The musical stars Jada Langley and Gino Ochello, among other theater professionals, and follows Daisy, a young girl who discovers a magic key to Heartlake City.
In Heartlake City, Daisy teams up with new friends to save a local treehouse, according to Variety.
The film will debut on Oct. 30 on Peacock in the U.S. and on Dec. 1 in the Czech Republic.
What this adds
The musical's global release strategy includes multiple Chinese streaming platforms, expanding its reach in the region.
What's still developing
- Thatcher and Jeremy Adams wrote the screenplay for the film, which was produced by Final Pixel and shot entirely in the U.K. “Heartlake City is about to get a whole lot bigger,” said Jill Wilfert, Lego’s SVP for global entertainment partners.
- The all-singing, all-dancing comedy drama will also debut in China on Tencent Kids, Youku Kids and BesTV (dates still to be confirmed).
